A former teen trans activist is under investigation in relation to the death of a man in Lake Township, Ohio. William John “Selena Leyc” Milligan, 29, was arrested last week after failing to appear in court for a preliminary hearing.
Milligan was first named as a suspect in the death of Kodiak Solomon in December of 2023, though the investigation into Solomon’s death has been ongoing since December of 2021. That year, emergency personnel responded to a call from the trailer home Milligan and Solomon shared on Loyalville Outlet Road in Lake Township.
Milligan told police that he and Solomon, who were in a relationship, had been watching television, but at around 2 a.m., he noticed Solomon was unresponsive. Milligan told investigators that he attempted to perform CPR on Solomon before making the call to 911. He also placed bags of ice on Solomon’s legs and arms, claiming he had heard it was helpful for overdose victims.
According to the Times Leader, emergency medical personnel administered Narcan at the site, but were unable to revive Solomon. An autopsy determined Solomon died of a fentanyl overdose.
But the investigation into Solomon’s death revealed a number of details that local police and prosecutors found suspicious.
Milligan was found to have been in possession of a video he had taken that night of Solomon while the man was fatally overdosing. Milligan claimed he had shot the footage “to show the victim what he looked like when he was overdosing.”
The video’s timestamp revealed that Solomon had overdosed and gone unresponsive over two hours before 911 was called, despite Milligan claiming he had only waited 15 minutes. In the video, Milligan can be heard expressing annoyance with the situation.
“Just to show it is 12:23, this is what I am dealing with again,” he says. The video shows Milligan pushing on Solomon’s chest as if doing chest compressions at that time.
Solomon’s social media history also suggests that his relationship with Milligan was littered with problems. Just two weeks before his overdose, Solomon reposted a meme to his Facebook which read: “Jack died because of Rose. Romeo died because of Juliet. Stay single if you want to live.”
Days later, he reposted an image featuring text reading: “I once loved someone so much that I tried to fix them while they were breaking me.”
Just over two weeks following Solomon’s death, prosecutors charged Milligan with having administered the fatal dose of fentanyl. As reported by the Times Leader, Milligan surrendered at the office of District Judge Brian Tupper in Kingston Township where he was arraigned and released on $20,000 unsecured bail.
Milligan was arrested last week after failing to appear in court for a preliminary hearing on charges of drug delivery resulting in death. Police state that Milligan was detained following a traffic stop, and was found in possession of an unspecific drug.
It is currently unknown if Milligan is being charged as a “male” or as a “female.” His legal name is being used in court documents, suggesting he has not yet formally changed his identification.
However, Milligan has a history as a trans activist dating back to when he was just 15 years old and first began to identify as transgender. Milligan was profiled by local news in 2010, and spoke out against bullying and transphobia on the Steve Wilkos Show.
“Prompted by the recent string of gay teenage suicides, Milligan, with the support of her family, is coming out and speaking out on national TV this Friday to tell teens like her that suicide shouldn’t be an option and to tell bullies to lay off,” the article reads. Quotes from Milligan’s parents are included, who encourage other families to “support your kids no matter what they decide to do or change.”
Milligan also expressed a desire to create a resource center or website for transgender youth.
