A trans-identified male has confessed to the brutal murder of an 8-year-old in Hyderabad, India. The suspect, identified as Imran Ali Khan, was arrested after CCTV footage emerged showing him carrying the boy’s corpse in a bag.
The child’s body was discovered in a drain in Telangana last Friday morning. The boy, Abdul Wahid, had gone missing the previous day from his house in the Allauddin Koti area of Sanath Nagar.
According to the victim’s family, the suspect, who was a neighbor, had asked the boy to fetch him oral rehydration therapy solution from the market as he was fasting. The boy left his home to fulfill the request and never returned.
The victim’s family reported the child missing to police after searching for him for several hours and ransacking the Ali Khan’s home in search of Wahid.
During their search, they report to have found evidence of human sacrifice. After the body was discovered, locals began spreading a rumor that the murder was a case of human sacrifice and have alleged Ali Khan’s home was a site for previous rituals.
However, the police suspect the motivation for the murder was a financial dispute between Ali Khan and the victim’s father, Waseem Khan, who runs a clothing business. Police stated they were unable to substantiate a “human sacrifice” motive.
Speaking with the The Indian Express about the investigation, a senior police officer said: “The accused is a trans person … We have taken him in our custody. At the crime scene we found no evidence of a human sacrifice.”
They asserted that Ali Khan had murdered the boy by drowning. According to The Free Press Journal, when the boy returned to Ali Khan’s house to offer him the medication, the man grabbed him and forced his head into a bucket of water.
“The deceased, a Class 3 student, was suffocated to death by [Imran Ali Khan] who then placed his body inside a bucket and packed it in a gunny bag,” the police confirmed.

The officer added that Ali Khan had financial disputes with the boy’s father and that “the accused has some psychological issues too.”
During their investigation, police reviewed CCTV footage of the area where the boy was found. During one shot, they spotted Ali Khan struggling to carry a large sack containing the boy’s corpse.

Ali Khan was arrested along with another man who allegedly transported him to the site where he dumped the body. The driver has since asserted he had been unaware of what had happened, and that Ali Khan had told him he was simply disposing of garbage from his home.
Police reported that Imran has since confessed to the murder while in custody, and that a fast-track court will be constituted to ensure speedy trial and punishment as tensions in the area are now high.
