A 39-year-old man from Massachusetts has pleaded guilty to possession of child sexual abuse material (CSAM) this week at Winchendon District Court.
AJ Robinson was first investigated in 2021 after sending four pieces of media which depicted child sexual abuse to an undercover agent through instant messaging app Kik the previous year. The app is notorious for its use amongst pedophiles as it allows users to ‘Match and Chat’ and ‘Flirt’ with girls and boys from chosen age groups.
Two FBI agents and a local police sergeant appeared at his home and conducted an interview with Robinson, at which time Robinson had denied sending the abuse material. Robinson initially allowed the police sergeant to watch him scroll through his phone in an effort to “prove” he had no illegal materials, but the officer caught a glimpse of a photo which appeared to depict a child.
A search warrant was obtained, and a forensic investigation of Robinson’s devices revealed his phone contained thousands of pictures and videos depicting the sexual abuse of children. The account of the person who sent the images to the undercover agent was later confirmed as being Robinson’s through the IP address and other identifying factors after an investigation that concluded in March of 2022.
Robinson was ultimately given an arraignment date of July 8. But when he failed to appear, a warrant was issued on one count of the possession of child pornography.
Just days before his July 2022 arraignment, Robinson “came out” as a transgender woman through social media, and took the name “Audrey.” The announcement came after a few months of Robinson posting videos in which he was wearing drag and reading children’s books on TikTok.
In a video posted July 4, 2022, Robinson said: “I’ve always known I was Female on the inside! I’ve lived most of my life as a Feminine Gay. I’m Transgender! My pronouns are She, Her Hers and I’m excited to continue this journey…”
Robinson still remains active on multiple social media platforms, including TikTok, where he continues to post about his “journey” as a “trans woman” and his cats. He has been using the hashtag “AJourneyCalledAudrey” on several of his videos.
Just last week, Robinson uploaded a TikTok video claiming that he will be going through with breast implant surgery. Sitting in his car after his consultation, Robinson said he was “totally getting implants,” but first needs “the referral from the counselor that basically says that [his] gender identity and all of those things [are] aligned with what the insurance requires to be fully approved….”
He told the camera, “I just feel kind of like, this interesting, like, feeling of, one step closer… there’s gonna be some twins right here,” pointing to his chest.
Prior to identifying as a “woman,” Robinson was known in his community as a gay male hairdresser.
Robinson is a former member of the Narragansett Regional School Committee, serving from 2014 to 2017, and runs a hairdressing business next to an elementary school.
Robinson’s salon, which was located in Templeton, Massachusetts, was formerly known “Serendipity Salon” but has since changed its name to “Phoenix.” His husband is an attorney who formerly served on their town’s Board of Selectmen.
Photos of the business prior to its rapid rebranding show Robinson had posted signs encouraging members of the community to vote for his husband.
The Narragansett Regional School District has a reputation of employing sexually predatory men. In 2019, math teacher Warren Anderson was sentenced to 45 months in federal prison for possessing child sexual abuse material. In 2016, history teacher Matt Kacavich was arrested and charged for texting nude photos to a student. Kacavich was later discovered to have had a “relationship” with a former student. When the girl tried to exit the situation, Kacavich “threatened to go to her new boyfriend’s house, said he was traveling to Ohio to get a gun and Canada to get arsenic, and then lied about having cancer for sympathy.” The school held a fundraiser for him based on his cancer lie.
Aidan Kearney, a reporter for TB Daily News Aidan Kearney reflected that apparently the Narragansett school district “learned nothing” from those instances and “continues to allow sexual predators around children,” referencing Robinson.
Kearney revealed that Robinson’s salon is directly across from the town’s elementary school and noted that during his time as a Narragansett School Committee member he “used his position” to access the regional high school’s theater program to “help out.”
A Facebook post from 2022 shows that Robinson was seeking out photographers to “take pics for a beautiful trans child,” although it’s unclear whose child Robinson was referring to or what the photos were for.
Kearney reported that when Robinson’s charges first became public, he “disappeared from social media.” However, upon reactivating his social media accounts, Robinson directed threats and aggression towards those who were repulsed by his possession of child sexual abuse material. He slandered a former female employee of his salon and dared others to denounce him after learning of the charge.
He also accused local enforcement of being “homophobic” and “transphobic” and asserted: “I am innocent and will not let corrupt local enforcement ruin the Magical life I’ve created! Fuck them…”
Robinson has even lodged false accusations against Kearney, baselessly claiming that Kearney has been convicted of raping a minor.
Robinson’s Facebook page, using the name “Audrey Snow,” is still active and promoting his non-profit cat rescue project.
Despite his vocal public assertions that he was innocent, Robinson entered a guilty plea under his birth name on March 7. Despite still legally being a male, local media referred to Robinson with “she/her” pronouns, with some not even noting that he was transgender.
At court this week, the sexual predator told the judge that he “did not dispute the state’s facts” and waived his right to a jury trial. Robinson also admitted that his actions were “stupid and naive” according to his attorney Kristen Patria.
In an attempt to help her client in court this week, Patria argued that because Robinson was not involved in the production of the images, he should not be required register as a sexually dangerous offender. The judge rejected the defense’s attempt to dodge the registration, and cited the serious nature of the videos investigators found on Robinson’s cell phone as well as the fact he had distributed them.
Robinson appears to have been handed no jail time, but has been ordered to register as sexually dangerous person (SDP), attend sex counseling, and have no unsupervised contact with children under 16. He will not be monitored, and will be allowed to travel outside of the state of Massachusetts.
