A 53-year-old butcher who maintained a chilling “female” persona on social media has now been charged with rape and other sexual crimes in relation to his alleged abduction of an 11-year-old girl.
Andrew Miller appeared in Selkirk Sheriff Court today and was charged with alleged abduction, rape and sexual assault including sexual exposure to a young child, the Mirror reported.
Miller was also charged with offenses relating to the possession of an indecent photograph of a child, behaving in a threatening and/or abusive manner, and forcing a child to look at a sexual image. Upon hearing the charges, Miller made no plea and was remanded in custody and will be tried at a later date.
These new accusations provide a darker insight into the girl’s ordeal after she was held away from her family for nearly 27 hours. Miller had initially been taken in on charges of abduction, as well as for threatening or abusive behavior under the Criminal Justice and Licensing (Scotland) Act 2010 during his first court appearance on February 9. No sexual component to the crimes had been formally asserted until today.
The girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was first reported missing from Galashiels in the Scottish Borders area on the evening of Sunday, February 5, after failing to return home following a play date with friends. Police said she was around a “20 minute walk from home” before she disappeared without a trace, prompting a massive multi-agency operation into locating the child. Countless volunteers took to the streets in a bid to find the youngster.
Police Scotland announced that the girl had been found on February 7 in Montgomerie Terrace in the village of Gattonside, and she was returned to her family. Later that same day, law enforcement said they had arrested a man in connection to the girl’s disappearance.
Local sources came forward and revealed that the individual who had been apprehended was Andrew Miller, a local butcher known for his crossdressing habit.
Reduxx quickly discovered two Facebook profiles belonging to Miller, one of which utilizes a “female” identity under the name “Amy George.” Miller appears to have operated a “male” and “female” account simultaneously, with one using his birth name, regularly posting on both of the profiles.
In January of 2020, Miller posted on teaching children to explore their identities.
“That simple question that we ask ourselves… who am I? Deliver that same question to your children. Let them be themselves. Guide them, but not with boundaries. Teach them, but not with misguided morals. Love them and let them know and feel that they are loved, because that is the greatest gift of all,” Miller posted as “Amy George” in January of 2020.
In January of this year, Miller made a post alluding to the debacle surrounding Scotland’s Gender Recognition Act.
“Silly Billys [sic] in Westminster… Never mess with Scottish Transgender Issues,” Miller wrote just days after the UK Government moved to block a piece of Scottish legislation which sought to significantly relax the requirements for individuals to change their legal sex in Scotland.
Miller’s transvestic tendencies were apparently well-known within his community.
A source local to Miller told Reduxx that he had been labelled “tranny Miller” while in high school because of his proclivity for crossdressing, and that he had been known as a “knicker pincher” even as a student for his tendency to steal women’s undergarments.
After graduating, Miller apparently began occasionally dressing in women’s clothes both in the community and in his butcher shop. Two sources independently claimed that Miller had past contact with police for stealing women’s undergarments from clotheslines.
Some research suggests that men with crossdressing fetishes, also referred to as transvestic fetishism, are more likely to be sexually violent as compared with other men.
A study published in the American Journal of Psychiatry found that “fetishism and cross-dressing” are more often associated with sexual aggression than other paraphilias.
“Not only is transvestism associated with other paraphilias, it may go hand-in-hand with dangerous sexuality,” the authors wrote, noting that a 1989 study of serial sexual murderers found that 25% had engaged in cross-dressing, and 25% had engaged in acts of indecent exposure prior to committing an act of murder.

Parents in the oceanside community of Nanaimo, British Columbia are sounding the alarm about a man who claims to identify as “female” behaving in what they say is a predatory manner while using the women’s facilities at the local Aquatic Centre.
Janayh Wright, a photographer and mother of three, spoke to Reduxx about her own encounter with the man — one she says she had heard about before interacting with herself. Wright explains that she was aware of rumors that a male had been using the women’s facilities at the Nanaimo Aquatic Centre from other parents, some of whom said they had lodged complaints with both staff and local police.
On February 3, Wright was visiting the pool with her daughter and niece. She told Reduxx that she would typically wait for her daughter outside of the changing room, but decided to accompany her that day.
While in the changing room, Wright witnessed a man wearing a wig and a face mask enter the women’s facility and proceeded to walk over to the shower area. Wright says he did not have a towel or pool bag, and gave no indication that he was getting changed or going swimming. He then returned and entered the stall next to the one Wright’s daughter was changing in.
Wright watched as the man tried to peer under the stall and into the one her daughter was using. She immediately confronted him as he exited, but the man simply responded that he identified as female and that it was his “human right to be in the women’s changing room.”
Wright told him that she didn’t care what he identified as, and that he shouldn’t be peeking under the stalls at young girls.
She escorted the man out of the changing room and reported the incident to the Nanaimo Aquatic Centre staff, who told her that she was not allowed to kick him out. They warned her that she could be arrested and charged for her actions. Incredulous, Wright phoned the police and reported what had happened. The situation is currently under investigation.
But Wright is not the only local parent to have run-ins with the man in the changing room of the Aquatic Centre.
Word of the intruder had first started circulating on Facebook in late January when users began publicly sharing a post that had originally been made in a private group for Nanaimo mothers.
“Yesterday at Nanaimo Aquatic Center there was a man in the female changing room watching women and children undress,” the post, made on January 26, began.
“They had a short brown wig concealing their face and neon green/black runners… They kept taking on and off their shoes and walking to and from the showers/bathrooms to make it look like they were doing something. They sat in a private changeroom, fully dressed for about 10 minutes with the door open – strategically where a little girl was changing in front of.”
According to the post, multiple people alerted the Nanaimo Aquatic Center about the man, but they refused to intervene unless he was “causing a scene or harming someone.”
Speaking to Reduxx, Wright expressed that she is not transphobic, but that she has realized, “now, any predator can appropriate a transgender identity and gain access to our children. It’s opened my eyes to the fact that we don’t have rights as women and kids don’t have rights.”
“If I hadn’t been there and used my due diligence,” she added, “who knows what could have happened?”
On the evening of the incident, Wright made a widely-shared Facebook post about the encounter and was met with overwhelming support from parents and other community members, many thanking her for her actions.
One user shared the story of her own encounter with the man, writing: “We went a few days before this and he was there. He was staring at the girls getting changed and even went and sat in a change stall with it open and stared across at the people in the stall across. He just wandered around watching everyone.”
Wright told Reduxx that while she has received some messages accusing her of transphobia, the response has been 90% positive. “People are starting to wake up to it,” she said. “I was oblivious to the fact that you could [self-identify].”
Wright was referring to Bill C-16, which amended the Canadian Human Rights Act and Criminal Code to include “gender identity” and “gender expression,” granting men access to single-sex female spaces like washrooms, changerooms, prisons, and rape shelters. Canada’s provincial human rights acts have similar language.
“There are loopholes in Bill C-16,” said Wright. “There is no safety for women and children.”
The day after the incident, Wright made another post thanking everyone for their support and inviting them to stand with her at the Nanaimo Aquatic Centre in protest. Some news outlets covered the demonstration, but labeled it “anti-trans.”
Around 100 people showed up to support Wright and to voice their concerns not only over the incident but also about children’s safety and women’s rights.
“Single-sex spaces matter for the safety of our kids. They matter for women’s rights and safety; they matter for homosexuals… You have to start fighting for your sex-based rights… If you don’t use sex-based language, your rights will not be protected. Don’t let them shame you. You’re discriminated against on the basis of your sex.”
Geiler told Reduxx that the demonstration had largely been well-received by the community.
“So many women came, some fathers, and children with placards. Zero trans activists and absolute silence over at Nanaimo Pride.”
Nanaimo Pride did break its silence later that day with a Facebook post condemning the “anti-trans talking points” in the public response to the predatory man.
The post continued: “We simply can’t know right now whether this alleged offender is trans in the early stages of transition, or a cisgender man looking for loopholes, or a bad actor using a common fears as a lightning rod to create an anti trans mob.”
Wright says she is ignoring the accusations and focusing on what really matters: the safety of women and children. She is in the process of starting a non-profit and using the hashtag #makemesafe to spread the word across social media platforms, including Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.
“I just want to get the word out there that we aren’t safe as women and children,” Wright said when speaking to Reduxx. “My goal is to bring awareness and to have people stand up with me to ask the government to look at this and to create change for safety for women and children.”
Down the line, Wright hopes that the non-profit can grow into an organization that helps people who have suffered abuse and sexual trauma access counseling.
For now, her aim is to raise awareness and come up with a plan that will “create safety and equality for everyone.”
“My grandma was all about women’s rights back in the day and always advocated for it,” said Wright. “She has dementia now, but she would be standing right next to me if she was in her right mind. I’m going to do her proud. I know I can do this.”

A male who identifies as a “woman” has been convicted in relation to the 2016 rape of a teenage boy in the Indian city of Thiruvananthapuram.
Sachu Samson, 34, has been found guilty of raping a 16-year-old boy nearly seven years after the incident took place on February 23, 2016. Samson was handed a seven-year prison sentence and 25,000 Rupee (approx. $300 USD) fine for the crime by the Fast Track Special Court of Kerala. The fine is set to be paid as compensation directly to the victim, and Samson risks an additional year in prison if he defaults.
During a hearing on February 7, prosecution told the court that the rape had taken place in a public restroom at a train station. The victim testified that Samson had threatened him and forced him into the closed area. The boy was then subjected to what was described as “unnatural sexual harassment.” Samson obtained the boy’s phone number at some point during the ordeal and contacted him repeatedly following the rape, demanding that the two meet again.
Under threat of “torture,” the victim did not inform his family of his ordeal. It was not until the teen’s mother began to notice her son acting strangely that Samson’s harassment of the boy was uncovered. The prosecution noted that the mother had “noticed that [her] child was constantly sending messages on the phone, and that the child was often afraid.”
Even after the teen attempted to block his assailant, Samson continued to find means of contacting him through social media. Eventually, the boy’s mother uncovered the Facebook messages Samson had sent to her son and contacted local police to file a report. Police worked with her successfully to “set a trap,” prompting the mother to message Samson and agree to another meeting, which led to his arrest.
Samson’s legal defense had reportedly attempted to use his “transgender” identity to argue his innocence, claiming he was now known as “Shefina” and had undergone “gender affirming medical procedures.” A medical certificate was used as evidence of Samson’s “Gender Affirmative Medical Intervention.”
During cross-examination, the victim stated that while Samson’s appearance and name have now changed, he was still the one who assaulted him and had been “a male person at the time.”
One doctor who stood as a witness confirmed that there was no evidence to suggest that Samson’s “gender identity” would have deemed him incapable of committing the sex crime against the minor. The court took the victim and doctor’s statements into consideration when rejecting the defense’s argument that Samson “had been a trans woman all along,” and couldn’t have committed the rape.
Samson will be detained in a women’s prison until transferred to a “special jail for transgender convicts,” according to Indian legal news outlet, Bar and Bench.
The Director of General Police was told by the Kerala court to make special arrangements for Samson, now referred to as “Shefina,” to safeguard “the dignity and honor of the accused… while she [sic] is detained at the women’s prison.”
The region of Kerala, where the assault was committed, is known as being one of the most “transgender-friendly” places in India.
Indian media covering the case have largely utilized “she/her” pronouns to refer to the rapist, referring to him as a “woman” or “trans woman.”
Vaishnavi Sundar, an independent filmmaker, writer, and women’s rights activist, responded to the inaccurate reporting and directed pointed criticism at Bar and Bench, writing that they were “capitulating” to gender ideology “by constantly addressing a male with female pronouns.”
Regarding the conviction of Sachu Samson, Sundar noted that the Judge’s order for the police to safeguard the “dignity and honor” of Samson while he is detained in a women’s prison meant disregarding female prisoners’ same dignity and honor. Sundar shared that female prisoners “are 20 times more likely to die by suicide and suffer with suicidal tendencies than women of the same age in the general population.”
In addition to her independent work, Sundar is also the Indian contact for Women’s Declaration International, a global organization of volunteers dedicated to defending women and girls’ sex-based rights.
In April 2022, Sundar covered the Delhi High Court’s passing of an order to implement “self-identification” terms for changing sex markers on passports. The ruling officially decreed that no medical intervention would be required for an individual to identify as the opposite sex, or change their legal documents. The Court called it “unnecessary and violative of the choice of the individual with respect to undergoing a surgical procedure to reflect the transition.”

No sé.

An individual who self-identifies as “intersexual” and a “woman” has been arrested for his role in a January 31 bomb scare. Lily Mestemacher, 29, falsely claimed there was a bomb at a store in a community over 200 miles away from his location.
Police in Oxford, Mississippi first responded to the bomb threat on January 31, announcing through posts on social media that a bomb had been called in at a local Walmart. Officers and an Explosive K9 team were sent to search the area in question, turning up no evidence of explosives and deeming the area safe.
An investigation was launched and the threat was quickly traced back to 29-year-old Lily Mestemacher of Conway, Arkansas. An arrest warrant was issued for False Reporting of Placing Explosives, and Mestemacher was arrested in Conway. Mestemacher had reportedly made the threats over social media.
On February 10, Mestemacher was transported to Oxford and booked on the charges. He was seen in the Lafayette County Justice Court for initial hearing where the judge announced a $50,000 bond.
While some media outlets are reporting Mestemacher as a “woman,” or “trans woman,” others are simply avoiding labels altogether. Both the Daily Caller and a Mississippi news website refer to Mestemacher as a “bearded person” or “person.”
Some reporters appear to be unclear as to what Mestemacher’s sex is, with at least one ABC affiliate outlet labelling him an “intersex woman” following a statement from Oxford Police Department’s public information officer. ABC 15 went on to claim that those identifying Mestemacher as “transgender” were making false statements.
Reduxx reached out to the Oxford Police Department who advised us that Mestemacher self-identified as intersexual. They confirmed they do not have any evidence to suggest he genuinely has a disorder of sexual development. The Department could not provide any information on what sex Mestemacher was currently booked as.
While the motives for Mestemacher’s threat against Oxford are currently unknown, Reduxx has become aware of a 2021 podcast recorded by him titled “LivingthroughitwithLily.” The bizarre 30-minute audio features Mestemacher discussing various topics including religion, demons, and the time-space continuum.
In the audio, Mestemacher says he is “spiritually ascended.” He plays music for a large portion of the podcast and uses various accents and voices when speaking. He said he was using a “fake voice” in the beginning and then asked the audience if he should use his “real flamboyant voice,” even though it makes people “not wanna listen.” Throughout the half-hour, Mestemacher can be heard laughing in an eerie way.
At one point, he speaks over a dramatic instrumental and proclaims: “Okay, so here’s what I’ve learned. You are the one you seek… whatever you do, though, will come back to you…. You’ll have to address the selfishness because of what you did … Don’t hinder your growth or anyone else’s natural growth, and negativity from other people will not ever matter.”
In addition, Reduxx discovered several idle Instagram profiles appearing to belong to Mestemacher. One of them uses the handle @livingthroughitwithlilyonair, referring to his podcast’s name.
Another account, using the handle @nothingisembarrassing, features “she/her/hers” pronouns in a bio which reads: “It’s actually impossible to hate anyone. Everything is light and ego is dark. Underneath thought has light. It’s impossible to hate anyone at all.”
A third profile of Mestemacher’s uses the handle @lilyintersex and features another set of pronouns, “she/they/her/hers.”
Only one of the profiles belonging to Mestemacher features several posts, this one again declaring “she/they” pronouns.
Mestemacher used this account to show off a tattoo that says “pain,” and posted filtered videos of himself speaking in a high-toned voice and displaying erratic behavior coupled with the same eerie laugh heard in his 2021 podcast.
He also shared an edited photo of half his face spliced with a photo of a devil accompanied by a caption including “#antichrist” and “#revelation” among other religion-themed hashtags. No posts have been made on the account since 2021.
On social media, many took to slamming WCBI News, the local station which was first to report on Mestemacher’s arrest. The outlet stated that an “Arkansas woman” was facing charges, and failed to mention Mestemacher’s sex or gender identity.
“This is the poster child of the entire movement of self ID. Who [in] their right mind would think that is a woman? Go back to the sideshow days of the bearded woman and they ensured everything else about her was feminine. This is a mockery and used to skew all crime statistics,” Twitter user Stuart Slesh said in response to Giggle founder Sall Grover’s tweet about the news.
“But how can you possibly tell? Have you checked ‘her’ genitals? I’ve been reliably told by the pronoun ppl of Twitter that the only way of knowing is by checking,” another user said jokingly.
Despite being reported as a “woman,” Mestemacher was initially booked as a male, according to a cached page on the Faulkner County Sheriff’s Department inmate roster. Mestemacher would have been in custody of the FCSO prior to his transfer to Mississippi on the bomb threat charges.

The tragic death of a transgender teenager has prompted a wave of speculation from trans activists on social media, some of whom are placing the blame for the youth’s death on internationally-acclaimed author J.K. Rowling and women critical of gender ideology.
On February 11, 16-year-old Brianna Ghey was found stabbed on a pathway in Culcheth Linear Park in Cheshire, UK. While initially found alive, Ghey passed away at the scene. Police immediately launched a murder probe, and two teenage suspects were taken into custody — a boy and girl, both aged 15 and from the local area. The teens were charged in connected to the murder today.
While Detectives initially stated that there was “no evidence to suggest that the circumstances surrounding Brianna’s death were hate-related,” they have since walked back the remarks in wake of widespread backlash and assured the public that all lines of investigation are being pursued.
Though police have continued to caution members of the public against speculation, trans activists quickly took to print and social media to label the crime to be a result of “transphobia.”
The Independent published an article wherein transgender lawyer Robin Moira White called Ghey’s death a “tragedy waiting to happen,” and name-dropped multiple women’s rights campaigners who were unrelated to the murder.
“I cannot help but feel this kind of tragedy was waiting to happen,” White wrote. “Anyone who followed the Conservative leadership contest will have seen the candidates vying with each other to stoke “debate” over trans people’s lives; and such sentiment is something I, as Britain’s only trans discrimination barrister, have to cope with every day.”
White went on to lay blame on author Helen Joyce and Sex Matters Director Maya Forstater, who White describes as “anti-trans campaigners.”
On social media, trans activists took a more explicit approach, with some directly blaming Harry Potter creator J.K. Rowling for Ghey’s death.
Alexandra Erin, a trans-identified male author, wrote on Twitter that “JK Rowling killed a girl” in a 15-tweet thread in which he suggested Rowling engaged in “eliminationist” rhetoric.
“J.K. Rowling is a billionaire with a huge personal fandom. She has a lot of influence. Her using her personal clout to spread anti-trans rhetoric encourages more anti-trans rhetoric, and both hers and the rhetoric amplified by her lowers the bar on violence as a solution,” Erin wrote, going on to claim that Rowling’s pro-woman stances were “demonizing the people — with a lot of focus on women — whose existence she opposes, whose existence challenges her sense of identity and order in the world.”
Perplexingly, Erin goes on to claim that he never “literally” claimed that Rowling murdered Ghey, in contradiction of his very first tweet in the thread. He then sarcastically remarks: “Just like [Rowling] never literally said that Jewish people are magical goblin bankers or that gay men are magical child predators with magical AIDS, except one tragically good one, also with magical AIDS.”
Other activists on social media more broadly blamed anyone who was playing the newly-released Harry Potter-based video game Hogwarts Legacy. Wracking up over 600 likes, one user claiming those playing the title were “funding JK Rowling to incite hatred against trans women — resulting in the vicious murder of a 16-year-old girl.”
Candlelit vigils were held for Ghey today across the United Kingdom, with some demonstrators holding posters and signs in memory of the teen. But some on social media have reported seeing flyers plastered to lamp posts stating that Ghey was “murdered for being trans in public,” and placing the blame for the youth’s death on JK Rowling and “TERFs.”
TERF is an acronym standing for “trans exclusionary radical feminist,” but is often applied to anyone who accepts there are biological differences between males and females.
This is not the first time trans activists have blamed the death of a transgender individual on those critical of gender ideology despite the evidence otherwise.
In August of last year, a 25-year-old female was murdered at a Pride Parade in Germany while intervening in a lesbophobic attack.
The victim, who had been identified only as “Malte C.” by the German press, witnessed a man verbally abusing two lesbian women and calling them “lesbian whores.” When Malte intervened to defend the women, the suspect punched her in the face several times, causing her to fall back. Malte was rushed to hospital and was placed in a medically-induced coma, but tragically passed away on September 2.
The suspect was later identified as a Chechen boxer who was illegally in Germany after his refugee claim was denied. Notably, some stated the man is alleged to be a homosexual himself.
Despite a suspect being in custody, trans activists on social media were quick to blame “transphobic feminists” for the killing.
Following the announcement of Malte’s passing, Frank Laubenburg, head of LGBT publication Die Linke.queer appeared to blame four women for the murder — biologist Marie-Luise Vollbrecht, feminist Alice Schwarzer and politicians Alice Weidel and Sahra Wagenknecht.
All of the women are known for their views on gender ideology and understanding of biological sex differences.
While trans activists often claim the existence of a “trans genocide,” some on social media have pointed out that Ghey’s killing was the first recorded of a transgender person in the United Kingdom in years, the last being Amy Griffiths in 2019. Griffiths was murdered by a male romantic partner.

A Canadian man who was convicted of the horrific rape of a 3-month-old infant boy has begun identifying as transgender while incarcerated and is currently being held in a women’s correctional facility with a mother and child unit.
In 1997, Adam Laboucan sexually assaulted a three-month-old baby boy in Quesnel, British Columbia. Laboucan was 15-years-old at the time and had been hired to babysit the child. The infant was so brutally injured by the attack that he had to be flown to Vancouver, 410 miles away, to undergo reconstructive surgery.
After committing the horrific assault, Laboucan “mutilated himself and ate his own flesh,” according to news reports.
During the trial, an expert witness stated that Laboucan displayed “everything from transsexual to pedophilic tendencies.” A forensic psychiatrist who examined Laboucan testified that even he believed himself to be a danger to the public. “He said he was not planning a life of crime, but he felt he had no way to control the flood of violent, murderous fantasies,” Dr. Ian Postnikoff told the B.C. Supreme Court.
Postnikoff further detailed how he met with Laboucan several times at the Youth Containment Centre in Prince George after the teen was convicted in 1997 on the sexual assault charges. While in custody, Laboucan chewed on his wrists, resulting in serious self-mutilation.
“While in custody, he would turn them against himself, but this high level of self-mutilation, almost self cannibalization, could be turned against other, weaker individuals, with possibly fatal consequences,” Postnikoff added.
“He said that biting himself tended to ease the anger and frustration,” Postnikoff said during court proceedings. “In one instance, he chewed on his arm for 30 minutes, ingesting fat and muscle tissue.”
The forensic psychiatrist said that he believed intensive treatment would be necessary. “With the history and severity of the offenses of Mr. Laboucan, it’s difficult to say how long his treatment would last,” he said. “He’s not a regular sexual offender. I would say it would be a very long time, possibly years. I would be very, very concerned to hear that Laboucan would be released into the community in the near future.”
According to a 1999 news report by the CBC, clinical psychologist Dr. Steve Sigmond testified in court that when he examined Laboucan in 1997, the teen had also admitted to drowning a 3-year-old boy in Quesnel in 1993. Laboucan was 11 when he allegedly committed the killing, and no charges were ever lodged against him because under the law, an accused must be at least 12 years old.
The child’s mother, Delores Deutsch, told the court that she wanted Laboucan to remain in prison for the rest of his life. “They thought it was an accident, but inside I knew it wasn’t. I don’t know. I guess a mother just knows, inside that feeling,” she said.
As the court considered his case, Sigmond testified that Laboucan had described having sexual fantasies about children under the age of three and that he had a history of sexually aggressive behavior at school.
Due to the horrific nature of the crime, Laboucan was handed a rare indeterminate prison sentence in 1999 at the age of 17, and was declared the nation’s youngest criminally violent sex offender.
But despite the violent and sexual nature of his crimes, Laboucan is now identifying as a “woman” and has been transferred to the Fraser Valley Institution for Women in Abbotsford.
While it is unknown when Laboucan officially began transitioning, a recently surfaced dating profile from 2018 shows the convict boasting of his “vagina” and breast implants.
“I am a transgender woman and I was born a man but now after surgery I became a full woman,” Laboucan wrote on his Canadian Inmates Connect profile. “I have a vagina, not a penis, and also have 720ccs DD gel implants.”
Some past news reports speculated that the convicted rapist’s breast implants were paid for by taxpayers and estimated the cost at approximately $10,000. However, Corrections Canada responded to the inquiry by stating that such expenses were not covered by the federal government. It is therefore believed that the province of British Columbia directly funded the surgery.
The Parole Board of Canada has repeatedly denied Laboucan’s requests for release over the years.
In a December 2010 parole review, the board concluded that a number of aspects suggested he remained a threat to the public, including his “gender identity, impulsive behaviour, violence and sexual deviance,” CTV reported.
Of particular concern, officials said, was Laboucan’s past confession to murdering a young child. “According to your correctional file, while in a fit of anger, you pushed your victim into a pond,” parole board members noted.
“Mutilation of your penis has also occurred, with you claiming [you] want to be female,” the board said. By 2010, he had attended seven parole hearings, and “his gender-identity confusion” was mentioned at each meeting.
The parole board was also told how Laboucan had been prostituting himself to other prisoners and using drugs. He was found with a rudimentary hand-made knife and had been threatening to kill a female guard.
Although it is unclear exactly when Laboucan was transferred to the women’s correctional facility, in April of 2018 The Toronto Star reported on another rejected parole appeal while referring to him with feminine pronouns, stating that the child rapist “now identifies as female.”
The year prior, 2017, he had appealed for release on the grounds of “bias” against him on the part of the board, and it would appear that by this time he had already been transferred to the Fraser Valley Institution for Women. Laboucan had been assaulting female inmates, and according to reports, “flung another inmate by her hair, then kicked her in the face.”
His latest parole appeal was denied last year in a September 20 ruling. According to members of the parole board, Laboucan’s most recent psychiatric assessment determined he was at a high risk of re-offending and was therefore deemed a potential danger to society. The board also highlighted his emotional outbursts, disrespectful behavior and drug use as risk factors that indicated his actions could escalate if released from prison.
Laboucan’s case will be up for review once again in October of 2024, though if his appeal is denied, there is a possibility he will remain incarcerated with women inmates for the rest of his life as decades of psychiatric evaluations have asserted that he has a poor prognosis for complete rehabilitation.
Fraser Valley Institution for Women features a minimum-security annex that hosts a program for incarcerated mothers and their babies. The Mother-Child Program takes place in a house comprised of facilities such as a shared kitchen, lounge and bathroom, as well as multiple bedrooms. It is situated within a compound of similar housing units, much like a neighborhood.
Other inmates who are not mothers themselves may be permitted to stay with the mother and child can even apply to serve as babysitters or “aunties”, though they may be subject to a risk assessment, a National Post report revealed.
The family must undergo an assessment by a child-welfare agency prior to gaining approval to have a child reside on prison grounds. If permission is granted, children can reside full-time with their mothers up to their fifth birthday and part-time up to their seventh birthday.
An advocate for the rights of incarcerated women made direct mention of Laboucan’s situation at Fraser Valley in a 2021 brief to members of the House of Commons. Addressing the Standing Committee on Public Safety and National Security, Heather Mason told members of Canada’s federal government that multiple women had reported being the victim of sexual harassment by trans-identified males who had been placed in female institutions.
“One of these women reported that while in the mother-child program, two transgender individuals with convictions for pedophilia, Madilyn Harks and Tara Desousa, would loiter near her and her child, making sexist and inappropriate antagonizing comments,” Mason said in her statement.
Harks, whose given name is Matthew, is a serial pedophile who has been described as having “all-encompassing preoccupation in sexually abusing young girls.” Authorities believe he targeted at least 60 victims before being charged for approximately 200 offenses related to sexual abuse.
In 2019, a sexual assault report was filed against him by a female inmate, but no charges were pursued. That same year, the former Deputy Commissioner for Women, Kelly Blanchette, revealed that of all the requests from men to transfer into women’s prisons, half were from convicted sex offenders.
Mason shared with Reduxx exchanges she’d had with women being held in Fraser Valley. One inmate confirmed that Laboucan was being housed in a unit next to the Mother-Child Program residence, and said that he had been “staring” at the children to “antagonize” the women.
The anonymous source continued to describe a frightening interaction she’d had with Laboucan. She explained that she’d been invited to attend a volunteer appreciation event, and had brought her infant son with her. One of the guards secretly informed her that Laboucan was at the event and made her aware of his crimes against a 3-month-old baby boy.
“I was told that there was an extremely violent child sex offender present who hadn’t been in the presence of a young child in a very long time,” she said, adding that her own child was around the same age as Laboucan’s infant victim.
“Once I was informed of the sick and brutal nature of the crime against the child, I regretted even going or letting that person set eyes on my child.”
Laboucan, she says, was housed next to the Mother-Child facility after this incident, at which point his behavior escalated.
“These accusations of looming around the child program resulted in a dispute in which this trans sex offender picked up and threw a female inmate and charged after her once she was on the ground to continue the assault,” the source explained. “Luckily, guards intercepted, but they segregated the female inmate for inciting a reaction for confronting this trans inmate sex offender for his actions,” she told Mason.
Indigenous women make up nearly half the female prison population, according to data from Canada’s Correctional Service. Compared to the average citizen, incarcerated women are more likely to have a history of physical or sexual abuse, and have a higher incidence of mental health issues. Female offenders are also far less likely than men to be convicted for violent crimes.
A report released by the Correctional Service in 2022 revealed that 82% of “gender diverse” prisoners in Canada who had a history of sexual offending were men who identified as transgender. Almost all had committed their crimes prior to claiming a transgender status. The overwhelming majority committed offenses that caused death or serious harm to their victims, over half of whom were women or children.
In June of 2017, the category of “gender identity” was made a protected characteristic after it was added to the Canadian Human Rights Act via a controversial piece of legislation known as Bill C-16. The Canadian government claimed the bill had been assessed for its impact on women prior to approval, but has refused to release any details of the assessment’s findings.
