MOHAMMED: Under Religious Repression, Women Are Their Own Liberators

Once upon a time, women in Iran, Egypt, Libya, Iraq and Afghanistan dressed as they pleased. They indulged in stylish fashion and hairstyles, and no one was arrested, beaten, or killed.

In particular, Iranian women flaunted the finest haute couture, and colorful Tehran was frequently seen as a fashionable backdrop in the folds of upscale magazines.

Boutiques in the capital city looked no different than those in Paris, and had even been flaunted in the pages of Vogue to advertise Iran Air’s direct flights from London to Tehran for the classy British women who wanted to go shopping.

You would certainly never see such pictures today.

In the late-70s, the Islamic Regime took over in Iran, and it became a theocratic nation. Immediately, it was decided that women must be buried under layers of obscuring cloth or they could face losing access to employment or education. Women who defied the laws were imprisoned and executed.

This set off a ripple effect throughout the Muslim-majority world.

Feeling threatened by the power of the Shia Muslims in Iran, the Sunni Muslims in Saudi Arabia decided to also flex their Islamist muscles. They not only demanded women cover their hair, but their faces as well.

The Saudis also decreed women had to be covered in order to leave the home, and that they had to have a guardian’s permission to do so. The ‘guardian,’ of course, must be male, and he would be any man deemed ‘responsible’ for a certain woman. This could be her father, husband, brother, or even son. Saudi women were prohibited from driving to further guarantee they did not have any autonomy. Much like Iran, the Saudis created a religious police force whose job it was to go around and make sure women were covered to satisfaction. Women who had bare ankles were caned and humiliated in the streets.

The ripple of repression continued throughout the Middle East, North Africa, South Asia and beyond.

Suddenly, throughout the 1980s and -90s, more and more women were being shrouded in variations of the cloth meant to remind her of her inferior status.

Women in Iran called it a chador. In Afghanistan, they called it a burka. In Egypt, they called it a tarha. In Pakistan, they called it a dupatta

But, ultimately, the only variation between all of them was the length or color of the cloth. Each one was meant to enforce a toxic idea of ‘modesty.’ It told women that their bodies, their hair, and even their faces, were shameful and needed to be hidden from the world.

A woman’s body is fitna — which means it can cause chaos in the world and must be contained.

I was one of the little girls who was buried under such cloth, hidden away from the world from as young as I can remember. Girls were told it was for our protection, and that it would deter rapists and harassers. The implication was that it was our responsibility to defend ourselves against criminals with this magic cloth.

That was a lie, of course. Women were still being harassed in astronomical numbers. Even today in Egypt, the vast majority of women report being sexually harassed.

Following the ripple effect of political Islam across the Middle East, this surge of religiously-sanctioned misogyny raged.

Women who fought back were ostracized by their families, communities, and societies. Those who didn’t conform were seen as whores and trouble-makers. Quite often, these women would be victims of honor violence, and in many cases, they were killed.

Algeria had a whole decade of women fighting back against political Islam, they called it the Dark Decade. Women were slaughtered for not covering their hair, for daring to leave the home on their own, or for showing any semblance of self-respect or autonomy.

It was only due to this viciously violent context that women submitted to the hijab. And, before long, the daughters of the women forced beneath the cloth began talking about how it was their “culture,” or their “right,” and even tried to claim that it was “empowering.”

I was one of those women! Even though I looked longingly at pictures of my mother dressed like a glamorous Bond girl in her dramatic eye makeup, beehive hair, and mini-dress, I regurgitated the narrative that I was wearing hijab by choice. What was the alternative? Admit that I was so disempowered that I couldn’t even decide what to put on my own body? No. I could never admit that to anyone… not even myself.

In a context of fear — fear of judgment, fear of dishonoring or disappointing your family, and fear of burning in hell for eternity — we wore hijabs and we embraced our subjugation willingly over the alternatives.

But, as is always the case, after years of a boot on your neck telling you are inferior, shameful, and unworthy any respect or personal freedom, eventually the rage overrides the fear. I removed my hijab even though it meant that my family disowned me and my own mother threatened to have me killed.

All over the world, a different ripple is emerging.

Now, instead of women burying themselves in fabric, they are freeing themselves. The internet played a huge part in this, as we could suddenly see each other, support one another, and share our stories.

My hashtag #FreeFromHijab went viral several times as women from Saudi Arabia shared videos of themselves burning their niqabs, and as women from Iran removed their hijabs and swayed them on sticks like righteous flags in front of the morality police.

Through the resistance, something magical happened. The religious police in Saudi Arabia were disbanded, and women were given permission by the government to drive and live on their own. The guardianship laws are still in effect, but there have definitely been significant changes. It was as though the misogyny had reached a crescendo and it was finally starting to fall.

What you see in Iran today, women burning their hijabs, cutting their hair, and defying the Islamic regime… that is a continuation of this fall. Naturally, there has been resistance from the cornered beast that is religious repression, and women like Mahsa Amini have tragically lost their lives as that beast lashes out in its final, sputtering breaths.

Make no mistake, the days of Islamist reign over women’s bodies is coming to an end.

This all started with Iran, but it will not end with Iran. This ripple effect will continue to spread throughout the Muslim-majority world yet again. But this time it won’t be a ripple of darkness, it will be a ripple of light. Women are freeing themselves from the subjugation of the past four decades.

It’s over. Hear us roar.

Sussex Police Scold Women on Twitter for “Hateful” Comments About Serial Pedophile’s Gender Identity

Sussex Police have come out in defense of a recently-sentenced serial pedophile following “hateful” comments about his gender identity on Twitter, prompting widespread mockery and frustration from onlookers.

On September 26, Sussex Police issued a status update on a case from earlier this month. The update was related to the sentencing of a serial pedophile on September 6. As Reduxx previously reported, John Robert Dixon was sentenced to a minimum of 12 years in prison following a conviction on 30 charges related to the sexual abuse of multiple children.

Dixon, 58, carried out abuse against five girls and two boys from 1989 to 1996, the youngest victim being 7 years old at the time. In 2004, Dixon began identifying as a woman named Sally Anne.

In July, a jury had found Dixon guilty on 30 counts of indecent assault and indecency with a child for what was described as a campaign of sexual abuse against the seven victims. According to the Daily Mail, case prosecutor Ryan Richter labelled Dixon a “brazen and callous sexual predator” who exploited young males and “cultivated a toxic relationship” with the female victims.

The pedophile preyed upon children he had come to know through family connections, grooming them into trusting him. Some of the children were abused for months at a time, with Dixon victimizing them in his lock-up garage or caravan.

Disturbingly, it was determined by a court during sentencing that Dixon would be sent to a women’s prison. This is despite the fact he had not legally changed his name or gender.

In mainstream media reports of Dixon’s conviction, he was uniformly referred to by feminine pronouns. Sussex Police similarly called Dixon a “woman” in the September 26 case status update that began making the rounds on Twitter last night.

Following the circulation of the update, many women’s rights advocates on Twitter took to calling out Sussex Police for the blatant obfuscation of Dixon’s sex, with many users tagging the force in an attempt to make their concerns known.

Earlier today, Sussex Police began responding to people frustrated with the lack of accurate information in the update, issuing a scolding reply to at least three Twitter users in which they condemned “hateful comments” towards Dixon’s gender identity.

The replies quickly attracted massive backlash, with Twitter users gathering beneath the responses to condemn Sussex Police for issuing what many users noted appeared to be a thinly-veiled threat that hate crime charges could be pressed against dissidents.

“Sounds like you’re threatening a woman for correctly identifying a convicted paedophile as a man. Something you seem unable to do. Perhaps rethink your career choice. The public would like some honesty and decency from police for a change,” user Mel Johnson wrote.

“Sussex police took 33 years to arrest and convict a man who was sexually assaulting children in my home town, but 7 minutes to threaten me for ‘hatefully’ referring to him by his actual sex. Sussex police need a change in leadership and a new social media team,” another user said, after Sussex Police had responded directly to their “hateful” post about Dixon.

As “hateful comments” are dubiously illegal under United Kingdom law, some users began pressing Sussex Police on whether their response suggested users could be subject to hate crime charges if they continued to express their opinions on Dixon.

The force responded with a link to their website describing what a hate crime is, and encouraging people to ensure their “gender critical views” are “not targeted at an individual.”

The United Kingdom has long been seen as ground-zero for much of the gender ideology debate, with stories routinely emerging from the nation about women being arrested or criminalized for not adequately validating a trans-identified male’s identity.

In 2019, a mother in Hertfordshire was arrested in front of her children and held for over 7 hours after being reported for “misgendering” a man who identified as a woman on Twitter. Kate Scottow’s conviction was ultimately overturned on appeal the next year, but was just one of many similar cases that would emerge.

Scottish feminist Marion Miller was charged with a hate crime after posting a photo of a suffragette ribbon on her social media. She ultimately won her case, with all charges against her being dropped. That same year, Maya Forstater, a think-tank researcher, won her years-long battle at an Employment Tribunal after losing her job over allegedly “transphobic” tweets.

Despite ample laws protecting transgender people in the UK, as well as experiencing a lower-than-average murder rate, trans activists often claim the country is “unsafe” for transgender people.

Earlier this year, Sussex Police was praised as being “among the most inclusive” forces in the United Kingdom, with figures showing that almost 10% of their officers identified as gay or lesbian.

In 2020, Sussex Police refused to respond to a request for spending information which would reveal how much money they spent on LGBTQ-Pride themed items. This was a year when it was found multiple forces across the United Kingdom had spent a total of almost £100,000 on rainbow accessories.

A few years prior, Sussex Police had spent almost £1,000 of public money wrapping just two of their police cars in rainbow colors for a gay pride parade.

UPDATE: Male Stripper to Read to Children at Scottish Museum

A male stripper will be hosting a children’s event at a museum in Scotland, prompting concern from parents as debates around child safeguarding continue to get more heated.

The Stirling Smith Museum and Art Gallery in Stirling, Scotland has announced a “sing-along cabaret” targeted at children under the age 12. But the show, which promises “mesmerizing storytelling” and fun-filled Disney tunes, is being hosted by a performer who is usually seen at venues that are anything but child-friendly.

Under the ABC, set to be held on October 14, is being presented by Tom Harlow — a male burlesque dancer and stripper. The Stirling’s website states Harlow will appear as a “not so little mermaid” and sing for children as well as read them “alternative and empowering fairytales.”

Under the ABC is Harlow’s own production, having created it in 2019 under the moniker Mermaid Tom. That year, he performed at The Savings Bank in Glasgow for children under the age of 10. In 2020, the event was online-only due to the COVID-19 lockdowns, but in 2021 The Stirling retained Harlow as part of a summer lineup during their August Family Garden Party.

In the past, Harlow has presented his Under the ABC production as being co-hosted by the “Salty Sea Men,” even in the events aimed at children.

A 2020 Instagram advertisement for Under the ABC, hosted by Merman Tom and “The Salty Sea Men.”

Harlow advertises his “Mermaid Tom” character on his website as being available for birthday parties and other events. His costume is often comprised of a mermaid tail and bare chest, with his nipples being covered by glittery pasties. In the last iteration of Under the ABC, Harlow included a bra as part of the outfit.

Also on his website are his adult characters and performances. Among them are “Brony,” a fetishized take on a My Little Pony character Harlow describes as “very dirty,” and “Woof!” — a leather-puppy inspired BDSM striptease.

Some of the other alter-egos Harlow performs under.

In another act, titled “Man’s World,” Harlow describes his performance as an “intoxicating blend of glamour and filth, sleaze and classic striptease that will leave you slack jawed, weak at the knees and yelling MORE PLEASE!”

Many of the videos on Harlow’s website are age-restricted and require viewers to log-in to their YouTube accounts to verify they are over 18 before being allowed to watch.

Since word of Harlow’s performance at The Stirling has begun to circulate, some organizations have tried to get the show cancelled citing safeguarding concerns.

UFT Scotland, which was created at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic in response to school closures, was first to have drawn attention to Harlow’s show last week on social media.

On Twitter, the group revealed that parents who had tried to voice their concerns about the event on The Stirling’s Facebook page had their comments quickly deleted. They added that the museum had been dismissing critical comments as “bots.”

“Tom Harlow is a sex performer with easily accessible, highly sexually explicit online content. The Smith Museum is platforming this sex performer with his “not so little merman” innuendo show to children. Children will look him up online. This is a safeguarding issue,” UFT Scotland tweeted yesterday.

In response to UFT’s vocal campaign to have the show cancelled, Harlow has been encouraging his Instagram followers to mass-report their Facebook page, which has over 14,000 members.

“Merman Tom was created to bring joy with singing and simple storytelling to children, and they are trying to ruin it and it honestly breaks my heart. I put a lot of myself into what I create and to see people twisting it like this cuts deep,” Harlow wrote in the Instagram call-to-action.

This is far from the first time an adult performer has been invited to host a children’s event in the United Kingdom.

On February 22, Hollymount Primary School in South London hosted drag queen Dolly Trolley as part of its diversity week events.

Parents were not informed the drag queen would be coming to the school, but after news broke it quickly became known that Trolley was also a burlesque performer whose acts were often x-rated.

UPDATE 28/09/22: The Stirling Smith Museum and Art Gallery has announced the event has been cancelled at the request of Tom Harlow.

In the statement, The Stirling acknowledges Harlow is an adult performer, but insists the backlash was purely due to his sexuality.

“Tom is a gay man and those seeking to do him and the Smith harm have made a direct link between Tom and ‘grooming’ young children – that is the reality here,” Chair of the Museum’s trustees, Dr. David Mitchell, wrote in the statement. Dr. Mitchell also cites there had been “risks” and “threats” associated with the event, but does not elaborate or provide examples.

The Stirling has also made a complaint with police, though Dr. Mitchell does not state on what grounds the “matter” was reported beyond criticism of Harlow. In the statement, he does appear to discreetly refer to UFT Scotland, which had been the most vocal organization protesting Harlow’s appearance at the Museum.

“The matter has been reported to Police Scotland and as an organization we will pass evidence on when required,” Dr. Mitchell says.

Harlow’s event fee is being donated to Stonewall.

Women Call for Primark Boycott Following Latest Gender Neutral Changing Room Violation

A young woman is going viral for her TikTok in which she details having been violated in a Primark gender neutral changing room, renewing discussions about the dangers that come with a lack of single-sex spaces.

On September 24, a TikTok began to circulate across social media of a young woman tearfully recounting a distressing experience in a Primark mixed-sex changing room.

Primark, a popular fast fashion retailer, introduced their first “gender neutral” changing rooms at two UK branches in 2019, and slowly expanded their availability to all stores over the years. But even prior to the introduction of the official policy, staff had reportedly been encouraged to let customers choose whatever changing room they wanted to use.

In the video, TikToker Charlotte M. Kirby explains that she had been in a Primark in Cambridge, UK using the fitting rooms when she was deliberately intruded upon by two men.

“I was trying on some clothes, and it was a unisex changing room — which, I am for because it makes every feel really included… But, twice, two men walked in on me. Opened the curtain and walked in on me … It was two different men but they were with the same group.”

Kirby says she fortunately been dressed on both occasions, but suggests that the men had clearly been organized in an effort to catch her in a more vulnerable state.

Kirby filmed her TikTok in her car, which she says a Primark staff member had to walk her to due to how shaken up she had been by the incident. She also explained that the store was currently investigating who the men were via CCTV footage. Kirby ends by recommending her viewers to avoid using the changing rooms alone, and states she won’t be using them ever again.

After it was posted to Twitter, Kirby’s video went viral — wracking almost one million views on one account alone. On TikTok, the video has since garnered over 140,000 ‘likes’ and thousands of concerned comments from viewers.

Kirby has since made a follow-up video in which she declines to address the issue of whether there should be single-sex facilities in response to a comment, but notes that a similar incident had happened before and that the men involved had been arrested. Kirby also says the men who had intruded upon her this time are still at large.

Following the viral attention, women on Twitter started a #BoycottPrimark campaign, with the hashtag briefly trending in the last 24 hours.

“WTAF? I never use changing rooms, so I was totally unaware that @Primark had mixed ones. WHY in this day and age where sex crimes are at an all time high, would a huge company make such a decision in an area where women get almost naked? #boycottprimark,” Twitter user Pams Daughter wrote.

#BoycottPrimark I’ve worked with children for over ten years; I happen to know that young girls (and women too) hide out in women’s changing rooms (or toilets) if they need to escape someone, who might be a stranger or stalker. Create an additional room, not mixed ones,” author W.M Aslam tweeted.

Primark’s official Twitter account appears to have attempted to overlook the mass campaign, ignoring the swelling backlash following Kirby’s viral TikTok. But beneath their latest casual tweets, women made their opinions known, and some even posted their own experiences being violated in Primark’s gender neutral fitting rooms.

One Twitter user recounted that Primark staff had offered her £10 in compensation after she had reported several men barging in on her while she was trying on clothes.

This is not the first time Primark’s “gender neutral” changing room policies have led to gross violations of the safety of their customers, females in particular.

Multiple men have been arrested since 2019 in relation to ‘upskirting‘ photographs being taken of girls and women in Primark changing rooms, and the retailer has a long history of serious sexual violence occurring on their premises.

In one incident, a 4-year-old girl was sexually abused while her mother was shopping for clothes at the Watford Primark. In another, a man was caught masturbating in front of a toddler at the Chelmsford location.

Earlier this year, a 13-year-old boy was sexually assaulted in a Southampton Primark by an individual described as “wearing red fishnet tights, a stripy top and a grey wig.”

Gender neutral facilities are just one battleground in the wider gender ideology debate, with many feminists noting that unisex facilities put women and girls at increased risk of sexual violence.

According to a 2018 Freedom of Information request conducted by the Sunday Times, just under 90% of police complaints regarding changing room sexual assaults, voyeurism and harassment in UK swimming pool and sports-centre changing rooms occurred in gender neutral or mixed-sex facilities.

At the time, Member of Parliament David Davies called mixed-sex facilities a “magnet” for sex offenders, and used the data to slam gender self-identification policy as “wrong and dangerous.”

“Beat the F*ck Out of Some TERFs”: Trans Activist Hired as Equalities Officer for SNP

The London Branch of the Scottish National Party (SNP) has hired a radical trans activist as an Equalities Officer, prompting backlash and concern from feminists who have uncovered violent statements he has made against women critical of gender ideology.

Cameron Downing, 23, was quietly elected as an Equalities Officer for the SNP’s London Branch at the party’s most recent Annual General Meeting. Downing also works as the Media and Communications Officer for the party’s official LGBTQ group — Out for Independence, where he previously served as the gender identity and expression officer.

But disturbing tweets have emerged of Downing calling for physical violence against “TERFs,” an acronym which stands for “trans exclusionary radical feminist.” TERF is considered by many to be a derogatory term, and has often been used to justify violence against women who oppose gender ideology.

On Friday, two tweets Downing made in 2020 began to circulate, in which he wrote he was “in the mood to beat the fuck out of some TERFs and transphobes.” In another, he proclaimed he “fucking hate[d]” women who advocate for single-sex spaces.

As the screenshots of the two posts picked up attention, Downing rapidly locked down his social media accounts, preventing them from being searched further.

In light of Downing’s hiring, Scottish women on social media began expressing their disappointment in the SNP, with many stating the party had lost their votes due to their increased acceptance of gender ideology over the last few years.

“The SNP seem to actively want mindless thugs in their ranks – as long as it is only women they want to hurt,” For Women Scotland tweeted in response to the news.

“I am a party member. I will not turn up to campaign or even vote in any election until the party seriously tackles its problem with misogyny. I will not vote for a party that tolerates speech encouraging violence against women from its officers,” wrote Twitter user @rampitchfork.

Even within the SNP, some who have spoken up against gender self-identification laws have found themselves mistreated by the party.

SNP Member of Parliament Joanna Cherry has been a vocal proponent of women’s sex-based rights and has expressed disapproval of many elements of gender ideology. Cherry has said that as a result of her beliefs, she was “cancelled” by her party, and that she has been subjected to harassment and abuse campaigns on social media for condemning self-identification laws.

At the LGB Alliance’s first annual conference in 2021, Cherry spoke about the death threats she received for speaking out for women’s sex based rights. She also described having received a corrective rape threat which, after a police investigation, she learned originated from a fellow SNP member.

“Essentially threatening me with corrective rape, and it turned out that these came from somebody who was actually a member of the SNP. This man was prosecuted successfully and I find it really quite horrifying and troubling that nobody in my political party has felt able to publicly condemn the rape threats that were made against me,” Cherry stated in her speech at the conference.

Cherry said that she has received private messages of support from fellow party members, but that they have expressed fear about going public with their shared concerns.

Downing is not the first person the SNP has employed who was later found to have expressed contempt for those who advocate for women’s sex-based rights.

Earlier this year, the SNP came under fire after having hiring a trans-identified male, Alexandria Adamson, as their Learning Disabilities Officer.

Shortly after his appointment, video began circulating of Adamson screaming repeatedly at a woman during a demonstration in Edinburgh in September of 2021.

Female protesters had gathered to demand the SNP and the Scottish Green Party protect women’s sex based rights in law, and were carrying signs reading “save our single-sex spaces” and “sex not gender.” Adamson, while using a walker, was caught on film abruptly charging at one of the women and hurling slurs in her face.

Shortly after his hiring was announced, internet sleuths began searching through Adamson’s Twitter account and found a number of disturbing posts. Adamson referred to women’s rights activists as “evil TERFs,” and had called for current-Prime Minister Liz Truss a “demon” and a “bitch” who had to be “put to death.”

Adamson’s role within the SNP was reportedly suspended following additional threats he issued at Tory leadership candidate Rishi Sunak.

Earlier this month, SNP Member of Parliament John Nicolson similarly drew ire for claiming that anyone could “declare” themselves a lesbian.

Nicolson made the homophobic remark during a tribunal in which the LGB Alliance is being forced to defend its charity status in light of a challenge from trans activist charity Mermaids.

The Scottish National Party officially supports a bill which would outline changes to the Gender Recognition Act in Scotland, including removing the requirement for an individual to have a diagnosis of gender dysphoria prior to being able to change the sex on their birth certificate. The bill would also allow minors as young as 16 to make changes to their legal documents.

Spanish Community Apologizes to Parents for Sexually-Charged Youth Summer Games

A small community in Spain has issued a formal apology to parents for hosting a disturbing summer event in which children were exposed to highly sexual “games.”

The event, which took place on July 22 in Vilassar de Mar, a small municipality in Catalonia, included activities in which children were instructed to imitate sexual positions taken from the Kama-sutra with each other, form genitals from play-dough, and learn about hardcore drugs.

The city’s youth department had organized the event, known as a “gimcana” – a boisterous summer event involving a series of playful challenges. The Vilassar de Mar gimcana was called  Juliol Jove, and targeted at youth as young as 12, but allowed adults up to 30 years of age to participate.

Parents dropped their kids off at the event, anticipating a day of fun-filled activities for their children overseen by council professionals, but were horrified to learn of what their kids had been exposed to throughout the course of the activities.

As previously reported by Reduxx, amongst the disturbing “games,” it was discovered that the children had been taught to place condoms on bananas, which they doused in honey and cream before licking. They were shown how to model genitals from play-dough, and even had a “game” in which they learned about positions from the Kama-sutra.

In another game, a balloon was placed between two children, who were then told to simulate sexual thrusting against each other until it popped.

In addition to sexual activities, the kids were also taught about hardcore drugs in a game called “injected or inhaled,” during which they had to match the illicit substance to their method of consumption. If they answered incorrectly, a sticky, white paste made of water and wheat starch was poured on them.

Disturbingly, multiple mothers reported that they had found photos of their children performing the inappropriate activities had been uploaded to social media without their consent.

After the news broke, one mother told  La Vanguardia, “We feel unprotected, these people have done what they wanted, going over the line.” Another mother expressed concern that content featuring her 13-year-old daughter in highly sexual positions could be disseminated amongst predators.

“We do not know if recordings of the children made by anyone may be circulating,” she said. “[sic] What assurance do we have that they are not in the hands of pedophiles?”

Shortly after the news went viral, the City Council of Vilassar de Mar issued a statement defending the activities, justifying the children’s exposure to the highly sexual “games” by asserting that minors are often exposed to pornography at a young age.

“We have detected that teenagers aged 11, 12, 13 watch pornographic content and build an image of sexuality based on what they see in porn … We try to break this dynamic by being open to talking about these issues so that they can share them with adults and try to prevent them from building a sexual imaginary with sexist, violent and unhealthy attitudes,” the statement read.

On September 9, the City Council of Vilassar de Mar formally apologized to the community’s parents for the event. An Ombudsman had been established to determine the best methods of resolution, and the Council is currently working through implementing the recommendations set forth by the internal investigation into the event.

According to a statement released by the City Council, the mayor of Vilassar de Mar, Damià del Clot, will be meeting individually with willing parents who wish to discuss the resolutions the Ombudsman has recommended.

The Ombudsman reportedly set forth several suggestions to ensure the mistakes of the “gimcana” would not be repeated, including the implementation of policies so that photos of children would not be taken and disseminated on social media without parental consent.

“[sic] The City Council would like to thank the Ombudsman for acknowledging the council’s [desire] to work on the sexual education of children and young people in the municipality, and admits that mistakes have been made in the implementation of the [event].”

In their statement, the City Council suggested it was still seeking ways to provide “sexual education” to the community’s children.

Last week, the resignation of Montse Gual, the leader of the council’s youth department and the administrator who had overseen the sexually-charged July event, was finalized.

Gual had initially defended the “games,” claiming the activities had been intended to be used as childhood sexual education. Gual had been in office since 2017, and her post is currently vacant.

In August, community parents had claimed they were planning on suing the municipality over the event, but no updates on the potential lawsuit, including if it is going forward, have been announced.

Gays Against Groomers, Free Speech Union Targeted by Big Tech Censorship

Tech companies appear to have targeted political dissidents this week as multiple groups were slapped with bans to crucial operating services. Toby Young’s Free Speech Union and Daily Sceptic were banned from PayPal, while child safeguarding advocacy organization Gays Against Groomers was suspended from PayPal, Venmo, and even Google.

According to Jaimee Michell, the founder of Gays Against Groomers, her group was permanently banned from PayPal and Venmo without warning or explanation on September 20. A Google ban followed less than 24 hours later, but has since been reversed on appeal. The news of the initial suspensions came just one day after Gays Against Groomers announced it had successfully obtained 503(c) charity status.

Gays Against Groomers has received widespread publicity for its pro-child safeguarding advocacy since its launch earlier this year. The grassroots group describes itself as “a coalition of gays against the sexualization, indoctrination and medicalization of children,” and often focuses on hot-button issues such as gender ideology in schools, the medical transitioning of children, and inappropriate conduct at so-called “family friendly” drag events.

But Gays Against Groomers wasn’t the only dissident group deplatformed this week.

On Wednesday, Toby Young, founder of British non-partisan organization the Free Speech Union and news site the Daily Sceptic, reported that PayPal had shut down both of their associated accounts. Like Gays Against Groomers, Young was told that his activity had violated PayPal’s terms of service, but was not offered further explanation.

The abrupt suspension has threatened the Daily Sceptic and Free Speech Union’s ability to operate. In an article for The Spectator, Young wrote that nearly a quarter of Daily Sceptic‘s revenue is processed through PayPal and that roughly one-third of the Free Speech Union’s 9,500 members pay their dues via PayPal. Young has been unable to have the accounts reinstated despite multiple appeals to PayPal’s customer service department.

Free Speech Union is known for advocating on behalf of its members on matters pertaining to freedom of speech. They exist to protect students, employees, and academics against being penalized for holding political views which might be unpopular or go against mainstream narratives.

In his Spectator writeup, Young speculates that the Daily Sceptic may have been suspended in response to publishing critiques of COVID-19 lockdowns and mRNA vaccines, while the Free Speech Union might have been targeted due to their defense of members who have faced consequences for resisting gender ideology in the workplace. Young also notes that Colin Wright, a journalist and biologist who has criticized the erasure of biological sex, had his PayPal account terminated in June.

Speaking to Reduxx, Jaimee Michell of Gays Against Groomers says her organization’s bans spoke to the priorities of these platforms.

“The fact that PayPal and Venmo banned an organization completely comprised of gay people, which also has multiple trans contributors, that exists solely to safeguard children from predators, says everything you need to know about the state of our society.”

Michell, who is a lesbian, has been a vocal critic of gender ideology and its impact on children since first establishing her organization in June.

“These platforms claim to promote and support minorities, especially from the LGBT community, but clearly that only applies when they fall in line with the agenda being pushed,” Michell says.

Following the ban, Michell pointed out that while the big tech censorship campaign appears to be going after those who deviate from mainstream political narratives, there are far more dangerous actors using the same platforms to finance themselves without issue.

On September 22, the Gays Against Groomers official Twitter announced that Prostasia, an organization many have called “pro-pedophile,” was utilizing both PayPal and Venmo to solicit donations.

Prostasia, a California-based registered non-profit, has become infamous in recent years for their campaigns which focus on supporting “minor attracted people,” decriminalizing child-like sex dolls, and keeping “artistic” child pornography legal.

The charity has had at least one registered child sex offender pen blog posts for them in the past. Guy Hamilton-Smith, a licensed lawyer in the state of Kentucky, is currently on a 20-year registry for a conviction related to possessing child sexual abuse material.

Hamilton-Smith has penned two essays for the Prostasia blog, and allegedly sits on the organization’s advisory council. One of Hamilton-Smith’s essays argues for the removal of social media bans from registered child sex offenders.

Recently, Prostasia began collaborating with an organization it calls the MAP Support Club, an unregistered group which claims to provide “peer support” for pedophiles, and invites “minor attracted people” aged 13 years old and up to participate in online chats about “minor attraction.”

Prostasia also runs a Discord server which was recently exposed by internet sleuths for hosting disturbing, highly sexual communications in the presence of minors.

But Prostasia is far from the only disturbing “pro-pedophile” organization using PayPal to solicit donations in the midst of suspensions being leveled against political dissidents.

B4U-ACT, a registered non-profit based in Maryland, has also been using PayPal as their donation platform. B4U-Act is widely credited with popularizing the term “minor attracted person” to reference pedophiles.

The organization was founded by a convicted child rapist named Michael Melsheimer, who explicitly stated that the purpose of B4U-Act was to gain widespread public support for pedophilia where the National Association of Man-Boy Love had failed to do so.

Around the time of B4U-Act’s creation, Melsheimer advised his fellow pedophiles on pederast forum BoyChat that his new approach for normalizing pedophilia would be focused around garnering public sympathy by deceptively claiming that the destigmatization of pedophilia would lead to a reduction in child sexual abuse. Melshiemer also assured them that the group would make no effort to prevent the sexual abuse of children.

In the past, B4U-Act has pressured medical professionals to alter the classification of “pedophilia” in the fifth edition of the Diagnostic and Statistic Manual for Mental Disorders (DSM) in order to reduce stigma against child sexual abusers.

The clamp-down on Gays Against Groomers, the Free Speech Union, and the Daily Sceptic come on the heels of outrage over selective ideology-based policing on other platforms, most notably Patreon.

Last week, Reduxx reported that Patreon had allegedly been ignoring staff and user concerns about campaigns facilitating potential child exploitation. The news came to light shortly after Patreon announced the termination of its entire security team.

Following the mass-layoff, a GlassDoor review left by an alleged former employee in August began to circulate, with the ex-staffer claiming Patreon’s Trust and Safety monitors had been explicitly instructed to ignore reports of child exploitative material unless contacted by law enforcement.

The review prompted interest in a series of videos released by a child safeguarding TikToker earlier this year in which she catalogued her difficulty in having Patreon remove an account which she says featured sexual photos of children. Sarah Adams told Reduxx it took Patreon almost 5 months to take down the account, and that the platform had initially defended its decision to keep it active.

While Patreon reportedly had qualms about removing a “pedophilic” campaign, the platform has been notorious for suspending creators who express views on political subjects that don’t align with the mainstream.

Earlier this year, YouTuber Sydney Watson was suspended from Patreon for “hate speech.” While Patreon did not explicitly state what Watson had done that fell under that policy, they did confirm it hadn’t been anything she said on their platform, and had been from activity of hers they had been monitoring elsewhere on the internet.

In 2021, Kellie-Jay Keen, a popular feminist activist from the United Kingdom, was also banned from Patreon. Like Watson, Keen was told she had violated “hate speech” policies, though Patreon never specified what she had done wrong.

Get The L Out UK, a grassroots campaign group which advocates for the rights of lesbians, was also recently banned from Patreon.
