Single Sex Spaces For Survivors are Under Attack

Like all too many women, I am a survivor of sexual violence.

As a child, I was tricked by a family friend into performing sex acts on him. I was trusting and naïve. At the time, I didn’t even know what sex was let alone sexual abuse. It was only when I reached adulthood that I realized I’d been taken advantage of.

Then, in my early twenties, I was persuaded to take drugs by a man I considered a friend, Joe. I lost consciousness that night, and I woke up the following day, naked and plagued with patchy recollections of Joe having sex with me while hitting me in the face. Since that night, seeing him or even hearing his name triggers a panic attack in me. It took me years to admit to myself that I hadn’t consented to Joe’s assault. That what I’d experienced was rape.

Having been badly let down by men in my life, I am wary of them. I know men have the capacity to lie and manipulate, particularly if they have a sexual agenda.

Due to my negative experiences, I live with chronic anxiety. I often have stress-related migraines and suffer with digestive issues. I am often fraught with nightmares and flashbacks.

Last year, I learned that Joe was moving to live in my home town. It shook me up so badly I didn’t sleep for weeks and felt constantly nauseous. My anxiety was so bad I could barely eat, it was difficult to leave the house and I felt like I couldn’t breathe. At the time of the assault, I’d tried to tell friends what Joe had done but they either didn’t believe me or didn’t think it was a big deal as they were happy to continue socializing with him despite my experiences. It had reached a point where I knew I had to seek help to try and come to terms with my past.

After a brief Google search I discovered Survivors’ Network, the only rape crisis service in my area of Sussex, United Kingdom. The support groups were advertised as being for “self-identified women,” which I initially assumed meant just for trans women. Thus, I called the Network directly to inquire about getting help. While I was immediately asked for my pronouns and gender identity during the call, the welcome assessor told me that Survivors’ Network runs a dedicated support group for transgender survivors.

I asked the welcome assessor if the women’s group was female only and she hesitated before telling me that yes, it was. I made the assumption that transgender survivors were directed to the dedicated transgender, non-binary and intersex (TNBI) support group and the women’s group was for woman born female.

I was apprehensive before attending the group, but as soon as I met the other survivors my fears were alleviated. I felt like I finally had a space with people who understood me and my experiences.

I attended the group every week and developed a strong bond with the other women. The space was kind and supportive, we had all been through similar experiences and it felt like a safe space to share our thoughts. We often talked about male sexual entitlement and how much we appreciated having a space free from men where we could speak freely. I found the group very beneficial for my mental health, and began to feel better within myself.

After a couple of months, I arrived at the group as usual and was surprised to see someone who appeared to be male but identified as a woman. The facilitator started the session by saying pointedly “everyone is welcome here.”

That day, no one volunteered to speak, so the facilitator asked me directly how I had been feeling about things. I felt somewhat pressured to talk about my trauma and keep the therapy session going just so that the space felt inclusive for the new addition. Putting aside my own feelings to please a male felt familiar to me, it was something I’d done since being sexually abused as a child. I left the group feeling upset and shaken.

I knew Survivors’ Network was planning to run some closed peer support groups, so I approached the Head of Operations and asked if one of these groups could be for women born female. As the centre has a dedicated group for transgender and non-binary clients as well as welcoming trans identified males into any women’s groups they chose, the transgender population seemed to be well-catered to. I felt that having one additional group for women born female would not affect the service offered to transgender clients.

My request for an additional group was refused, despite being legal under UK Equality Laws. Rape crisis counselling is even cited as an example of when transgender women can be excluded from some women’s services, even if they have had full gender reassignment and possess a Gender Recognition Certificate (GRC).

Not only was my request refused, but Survivors’ Network blocked me on social media, removed me from their mailing lists and told I would need to have an assessment if I wanted to attend any of their groups in future. I was no longer able to see the women I’d formed such a close bond with. All the feelings that had been brought up from speaking about my sexual violence were there, but I had no outlet. There was nowhere I could turn for help.

As a result of my experiences, I have made the difficult decision to launch a legal challenge against Survivors’ Network.

If it can provide tailored support to members of the transgender community, then surely it can do so female survivors of sexual violence who require an exclusive, healing space.

The very nature of many cases of sexual abuse is often women being conditioned to set aside their own feelings and boundaries in order to centre the feelings of a man. This should not happen anywhere, but let alone in a rape crisis shelter.

I have a great, all-female law firm on board and feel cautiously optimistic. If it is ruled that a single-sex group must be provided, then it could help open up a space for thousands of female survivors of sexual violence who are currently coping alone and without support.

Bailey Tribunal: Lesbian Sexual Boundaries Like ‘Racial Segregation’

A workshop to help trans-identified males overcome lesbians’ sexual boundaries “is similar to South Africa attempting to racially integrate society” the Central London Employment Tribunal heard today.

The shocking statement was made by Cathryn McGahey while providing evidence in the Allison Bailey v. Stonewall & Garden Court Chambers case. Bailey, a criminal defense barrister and LGB Alliance co-founder, has pursued legal action against her employer, Garden Court Chambers, and trans activist charity Stonewall.

Bailey’s case asserts that Stonewall influenced her employer – who are part of Stonewall’s controversial Diversity Champion Scheme – to withhold work from her as penalization for her ‘gender critical’ beliefs and pro-woman activism. Bailey has accused Stonewall of encouraging her Garden Court Chambers to investigate her in an attempt to cost her her livelihood.

Today, the courts heard from Bailey’s legal representative, Ben Cooper, that Stonewall had sent a complaint to Garden Court Chambers regarding comments made by Bailey on her personal twitter account where she referred to trans-identified males as “male-bodied” when referencing a controversial workshop.

The 2012 workshop was organized by Morgan Page for Planned Parenthood in Toronto, and was titled “Overcoming the Cotton Ceiling: Breaking Down Sexual Barriers for Queer Trans Women.”

The “Cotton Ceiling” is a term widely attributed to trans-identified male porn star Drew DeVeaux. It disparagingly refers to lesbians as exclusionary for not wanting to have sexual intercourse with men. The name is a reference to the ‘glass ceiling,’ which is a form of discrimination experienced by women in the workplace

Today at the Bailey tribunal, a legal expert representing Garden Court Chambers took the stand, and made a dramatic comment that has set social media ablaze in shock.

Under question by Bailey’s legal representative, barrister Cathryn McGahey said that she understood that the concept of the cotton ceiling as “overcoming the reluctance of lesbians to have sex with trans individuals,” but argued that the workshop was not coercive as Bailey had commented.

“It’s important to understand what happens or happened at the workshop. There is nothing in the material put out by Planned Parenthood Toronto that advocates coercion,” McGahey stated. She then argued that Bailey’s claims that the workshop was coercive was not sustained and said that the workshop was “similar to South Africa attempting to racially integrate society.”

The comparison caused uproar on social media, with many users outraged over the apparent comparison of lesbian sexuality with racial segregation.

“This barrister showing a shocking  disregard for lesbian boundaries and a total misunderstanding of the horrors of racist apartheid. A shamefully homophobic comment. A shamefully racist comment. How utterly embarrassing” Twitter user @luluchops1 wrote.

“Lesbians saying no to sex with males compared to the violent white supremacy of apartheid. This is racist, misogynistic, and lesbophobic,” author Claire Heuchan tweeted.

Many other users pointed out the homophobic and racist nature of comparing overcoming lesbians’ sexual boundaries to racially integration following apartheid.

“A workshop ‘strategizing’ how to get into unwilling women’s knickers is like Nelson Mandela’s struggle against apartheid, according to a leading QC from #GardenCourtChambers” another twitter user commented.

Following the controversial comparison by McGahey, the court went for an immediate break.

Cathryn McGahey QC is vice-chair of the Bar Council’s ethics committee. According to her profile on the Temple Garden Chambers website, she has been repeatedly listed in the Legal 500 list of top lawyers in the United Kingdom.

Allison Bailey first announced she was launching the case against Stonewall and her Chambers in 2020. She launched a successful campaign to help crowdfund her case, raising over £550,000 from over 9,000 donors across the globe.

Hannah Tubbs: Child Molester To Stand Trial on Murder Charges

A trans-identified male currently serving a sentence for sexually abusing a 10-year-old girl has now been ordered to stand trial on first-degree murder charges as evidence has emerged connecting him to the past crime.

Hannah Tubbs, born James, came to widespread notoriety in February of this year after being found guilty of sexually assaulting a young girl in the bathroom of a family restaurant in 2014.

Tubbs was two weeks shy of his 18th birthday when he followed the 10-year-old into the bathroom of a Denny’s in Palmdale, California, grabbed her by the throat, and forced his hand down her pants. He only stopped his attack when someone entered the restroom, and then ran away before he could be detained.

In a case that caused widespread outcry, Tubbs, now 26, was handed a two-year sentence and ordered to serve it in a juvenile detention center for female youth. It was quickly revealed that Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascón had repeatedly refused to transfer Tubbs’ case to adult court, limiting the scope of possible sentencing options. Tubbs was also cleared from having to register as a sex offender upon release.

Soon after Tubbs was moved to youth treatment center, audio was leaked of a call between Tubbs and his father in which the man was heard laughing and boasting about the lenient sentence being arranged for him.

“Don’t worry about it. It’s a strike, but they’re gonna plead, I’m [going to] plead out to them and then plead guilty. They’re going to stick me on probation. And it’s going to be dropped. It’s going to be done, done. I won’t have to register,” Tubbs said during the call, excitedly exclaiming “Nothing!” when his father asked what the consequences of his actions would be.

But now a dramatic new layer to the disastrous case has been revealed as Tubbs is being ordered to stand trial on first-degree murder charges related to the 2019 death of Michael Clark.

According to local KGET coverage, Clark’s decomposed body was discovered in the Kern River in August 2019. Prosecutors brought charges against Tubbs earlier this month after ongoing investigation into the case resulted in enough evidence for a Judge to bound Tubbs for trial.

A preliminary hearing held on Monday heard testimony from a Sheriff Investigator stating that multiple witnesses said Tubbs admitted beating Clark to death with a rock. The two had allegedly gotten into an altercation related to Tubbs stealing a $100 Western Union transfer Clark had received from his father.

Tubbs was arrested in 2019 on unrelated charges, and was questioned on Clark’s disappearance before the body was located. While in detention, Tubbs was heard on a recorded jail call telling his father to ‘wipe’ his phone.

Evidence presented at the preliminary hearing also included Google GPS data retrieved from Clark’s cellphone, which tracked the device’s location. At one point after Clark’s disappearance, the device was located in a Von’s grocery store. CCTV footage from the store was reviewed, and Tubbs was seen in the store Clark’s phone was present.

District Attorney’s Office Investigator Don Krueger stated that during a May interview with Tubbs on the crime, Tubbs blamed a former friend for Clark’s death.

Tubbs also told Krueger that he “blacks out” when he gets angry and sometimes cannot remember what he has done. He also stated he had a “transgender side” and an “enforcer side.”

After being booked on the murder charge, Tubbs was moved from the juvenile detention center he had been serving his molestation sentence in and was sent to Kern Valley State Prison — a male facility — and placed administrative segregation.

Lesbian Magazine Features Male Cyclist On Cover of Pride Issue

A lesbian magazine is under fire after announcing a trans-identified male would be their cover star for the June 2022 “Pride” Edition of their monthly circulation.

On May 20, DIVA magazine announced on Twitter that transgender cyclist Emily Bridges would be featured on the cover of its next issue, interviewed by the publication’s head Linda Riley.

Bridges made headlines earlier this year after being barred from competing in women’s cycling races in the UK as he did not meet qualifying standards. After a review of his credentials, it was found that Bridges was still registered with the UCI – the sports international governing body – as a male.

Bridges had previously won multiple national-level championships in the men’s division, and had placed highly in the male category as recently as February of 2022, just weeks before attempting to enter the female competition.

After the announcement that Bridges was making a push into women’s sport, female cyclists threatened to boycott the British Omnium Championship if he was allowed to compete. Bridges drew widespread public outcry for having what many saw as an unfair biological advantage.

The backlash took place during ongoing controversy over British Cycling’s newly updated transgender and non-binary policy, which was exposed as threatening members with fines or expulsion for being critical of the inclusion of males into women’s sports, or questioning members’ “gender identities.” After Bridges was disallowed from competing, British Cycling expressed “disappointment” on behalf of trans-identified male athletes.

DIVA’s announcement of their June cover star was not well received by women on social media, who promptly piled beneath the post to make their thoughts known.

While many users voiced confusion as to why a biological male who identifies as a lesbian was the featured choice, others took direct aim the magazine itself.

“Let’s not forget, this is a publication owned by Linda Riley who claimed to have invented #LesbianVisibilityMonth when she actually stole it from somebody else,” user @UKHomosexual wrote, noting lesbian activist Jeanne R. Córdova should be credited with having created the idea, “Linda [is] a white women colonizing a latino women’s idea and claiming ownership.”

Speaking to Reduxx on the post, lesbian activist and Gender Dissent journalist Eva Kurilova called DIVA’s decision to showcase a male akin to ‘lesbian erasure.’

“To chronicle the ‘coming out journey’ of a heterosexual male as a lesbian in a lesbian publication is absurd,” Kurilova said, noting that DIVA was just one of many lesbian outlets participating in attempts to force lesbians to include men in their sexuality.

Kurilova also took aim at Emily Bridges, stating that he “follows in the footsteps of men like Susan Stryker who have been erasing and redefining what it means to be a lesbian,” continuing: “The idea of a ‘male lesbian’ used to be rightly ridiculed for the joke that it is. Yet not accepting such a man as a lesbian today is considered transphobic.”

In April, a man in Germany caused widespread backlash after announcing that he identified as a “male lesbian.” Francois Etscheid, 50, was born male and identifies as a man, yet was profiled in General-Anzeiger as belonging to a disregarded minority of ‘male lesbians’ whose sexualities were equally as valid as any other.

On DIVA, Kurilova says it’s “sold out to gender ideology,” and that the only hope for female homosexual-exclusive spaces is to push back.

“Lesbian magazines that happily put a man on the cover and consider any lesbians who object to be bigots deserve none of our attention and support.”

DIVA was first launched in 1994 under the guidance of editor Frances Williams, but “LGBTI+ activist” Linda Riley became the magazine’s publisher in 2016. Riley describes herself on Twitter as the creator of hashtag campaign #LesbianVisibility and the founder of Bank of London Rainbow Honors Day.

The outlet was formerly marketed as a “mainstream lesbian magazine” for and about lesbian and bisexual women, but under Riley’s leadership has changed its target demographic to “Queer” women and “non-binary people.”

Child Sex Trafficker Now At Women’s Prison in New Jersey

A trans-identified male who participated in the sadistic sexual abuse of a 7-year-old girl is now being housed in a women’s facility in New Jersey.

Ashley Romero, born Adam, was one of four people sentenced earlier this month on multiple convictions related to child sexual abuse and human trafficking.

Romero was initially arrested in 2019 after Child Protection Services became alerted to a pornography company being run out of a residence where a minor resided. After search warrant was executed at the property and it was determined the child had likely been exposed to sexually explicit material, electronic devices were subsequently seized.

During forensic examination of the devices, several sexually-explicit photos and videos of the 7-year-old were found, including media of Romero sexually abusing the girl.

The girl was the biological daughter of another trans-identified male who lived in the home, Marina Volz. Romero and Volz had taken the child from her mother, who lived in Oregon, and brought her to New Jersey for the purposes of forcing her into the child sexual exploitation material industry.

For his role in the girl’s abuse, Romero was handed a 25-year-sentence, with convictions on counts of human trafficking, sexual assault of a victim under the age of 13, child pornography possession, and more.

But according to the New Jersey Department of Corrections (NJDOC), Romero is now being housed in the women’s section of the Somerset County Jail while awaiting transfer to the Edna Mahan Women’s Correctional Facility.

Romero appears to have had a legal document change as his records state he is a ‘female.’ This is in contrast to Marina Volz, who is listed as a male and is currently being housed in South Woods State Prison, a men’s facility. But legal action set by the ACLU will allow for Volz to request transfer and very likely be successful.

Last year, a settlement agreement was reached between the ACLU and the NJDOC which stipulated that transgender inmates must be housed on the basis of their self-declared gender identity. At the time, the ACLU had been fighting on behalf of a trans-identified male inmate who had been housed in a men’s institution and allegedly faced abuse and discrimination.

After the settlement was won, the New Jersey ACLU praised the decision, with staff attorney Tess Bordan saying: “The settlement of this lawsuit puts in place systemic, far-reaching policy changes to recognize and respect the gender identity of people in prison – with housing based on gender identity, use of appropriate pronouns, access to gender-affirming property, and much more.”

One notable trans-identified male inmate currently being housed in Edna Mahan, likely as the result of the ACLU’s efforts, is Perry Cerf. Cerf was convicted for the brutal rape, torture, and murder of 47-year-old Ecuadoran immigrant Flor Andrade in 2002. Cerf now goes by “Michelle Hel-loki Angelina.”

Volz and Romero ran what they described as a “family-owned, transgender” pornography company, which specialized in BDSM, fetish, and taboo content.

While avoiding providing full details of the extent of the little girl’s ordeal during sentencing on May 6, Judge Peter Tober noted the child had been subjected to torture-like conditions, referencing the presence of neck collars, a cage in the basement, and sex toys that were used on her.

“If this was not heinous, cruel and depraved, I don’t know what is,” Judge Tober said, stating that the girl had been taken from her actual mother “solely for the sexual gratification” of others.

Assistant Somerset County Prosecutor Brian Stack said the four, who had formed a sadistic family unit, were “incapable of redemption,” noting that none had taken responsibility for the harm they’d done. He called the little girl’s life in the home a “vortex of darkness.”

The child is currently living with relatives, and Volz has surrendered all parental rights.

While Volz and Romero were both given 25 year sentences on convictions including child sexual abuse and human trafficking, the two other adults in the home were also convicted.

Sean Allen, who was handed a 12-year sentence for his role in the crimes, and Dulcinea Gnecco, who was also charged on four counts of child endangerment. Gnecco, the home’s cook and child caretaker, was given the most lenient of the sentences and is slated for release in 2023.

Top Academic Behind Fetish Site Hosting Child Sexual Abuse Fantasy, Push To Revise WPATH Guidelines

A Professor Emeritus at California State University who has given academic talks on “expanding the transgender umbrella” has for over two decades participated in a fetish forum that hosts and produces extreme sadomasochistic written pornography involving the castration and torture of children.

Thomas W. Johnson, a retired Professor at California State University in Chico (CSUC), is a formative member of the body modification fetish site The Eunuch Archive, which was the subject of a months-long investigation by Reduxx released on May 17. At the time, Johnson’s identity had not yet been confirmed as an anonymous user who goes by the handle “Jesus.”

But according to posts made to the forum in March and April, Johnson let his identity slip and invited site members to partake in an academic survey on “childhood experiences, castration desire and sexual history,” as well as watch him give a talk at CSUC via Zoom.

Johnson has published research based on surveys he has personally conducted with other members of the Archive. His academic interests advocate for expanding the concept of ‘gender identity’ to include men with sadomasochistic and even pedophilic castration fantasies — something that has now been included as a Male-to-Eunuch identity in the draft Standards of Care for the World Professional Association of Transgender Health (WPATH), an international medical body that sets guidelines including those related to the transitioning of children.

As previously reported by Reduxx, the Eunuch Archive hosts over 3,000 pieces of fictional child pornography that detail the rape, torture, and killing of children. In some narratives, children with stunted puberty are raped by doctors. In others, children are castrated by force as part of a sadistic sexual torture ritual.

According to Johnson’s own research, the majority of site members who participated in a survey cited sexual fantasy as their main reason for interest in castration. Some survey participants asserted that they became sexually aroused when witnessing animal castration.

Additionally, group members have used the forum to request information regarding doctors willing to perform orchiectomies without a psychiatric evaluation. There are also personal ads where participants request partners for BDSM acts. “Seeking total body modification… Slave in search of Master that would like to take a boy and transform it into an exotic fetish toy,” wrote one site member.

In addition to Johnson, the identities of two other leading site members have also been determined by Reduxx as similarly prominent academics.

Richard J. Wassersug has for over 20 years used the alias “Eunuchunique” on the forum, while Krister H. Willette, who has been active in the community since 1998, uses the screen name “Kristoff.” Both men, along with Johnson, presented research they co-authored together at a 2009 conference in Oslo held by WPATH. Wassersug was an Honorary professor in the Department of Cellular and Physiological Sciences at the University of British Columbia, but has also been affiliated with Dalhousie and La Trobe Universities.

In May 2010, the contents of the Oslo presentation were published in The International Journal of Transgenderism, an academic journal issued by WPATH.

Wassersug, Willette, and Johnson were again invited to speak at a 2011 WPATH conference in Atlanta, Georgia. It was during this conference that the decision was made to de-classify Gender Identity Disorder as a psychological condition. In its place, Gender Dysphoria would become the recommended terminology.

Johnson claims to have been influential in editing the fifth edition of the Diagnostic and Statistic Manual for Mental Disorders (DSM), which is published by the American Psychiatric Association (APA). The DSM is regarded as the authoritative guide to the diagnosis of mental disorders in the United States, but is also referenced internationally.

“The draft for the next edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (the DSM-5) suggests ‘Gender Incongruence,’ which I much prefer,” Johnson wrote in 2010. “The body and mind are out of sync, with no mental illness implied!”

Johnson later added, “I was one of the many who were asked to draft position papers for the committee to read as they prepared their draft. I also wrote a long commentary on the draft, which the committee will use during the revision process.”

When the DSM-5 was released in 2013, a term for a pathological and sexualized fixation on genital mutilation was removed. Previously, Skoptic syndrome had been listed as a gender identity disorder in the DSM-4.

In 2016, Johnson claimed to have been specifically chosen to rewrite a portion of the Standards of Care by former WPATH president Eli Coleman, who “pointed at me and announced that I was expected to provide input on eunuchs for the revision. Now is our opportunity to help devise the standards of care that will be most helpful.”

For nearly two decades, the Eunuch Archive has hosted an annual “Meeting of Members.” The event is held in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Willette’s area of residence, and is co-hosted by Willette and Johnson. Minneapolis is also where former WPATH president Eli Coleman currently lives and works.

Johnson and Wassersug have previously released academic research justifying the pedophilic fantasies amongst castration fetishists. In a 2015 paper titled “The Sexual Side of Castration Narratives,” fictional child sexual abuse material was called “therapeutic” and helpful for those with eunuch ideations.

On May 13, research by Johnson and Wassersug titled “Castration for Pleasure: Exploring Extreme Castration Ideations in Fiction” was published in the Archives of Sexual Behavior.

“The most popular [Eunuch Archive] stories link sexual gratification and romantic partnership with genital abuse. They are characterized by the absence of consent for genital ablations and multiple [sadomasochism]-related paraphilias,” note Johnson and Wassersug. “Many stories feature attraction to, and ablation of, the genitals of pubescent or adolescent males.”

According to a 2007 CSUC newsletter issued by the Anthropology Department, Johnson was noted as being the long-time president of the Children’s Folklore Section of the American Folklore Society.

Reduxx reached out to the Anthropology Department at CSUC for comment on Johnson’s association with a forum hosting child sexual abuse fantasies, but did not receive a response in time for publication. This article may be updated in the event they respond.
